Not as part of a New Years Resolution but really just because the timing was right I started running the first week of January with the goal of running the Gasparilla Distance Classic on February 26, 2011. I ran a little bit in high school (Cross Country and Track) while still living in New York but have not done any significant running since.
Inspired by numerous friends that have all taken up or were already runners in some capacity I decided it was my turn to see if I had it in me. I was turned onto what is known as the Couch to 5K running program, a nine week training routine using interval running to build up to running an uninterrupted 5K.
My goal for the balance of the year is to complete one 5K each quarter.
